The story is based on the Sengoku period and the modern 90s. To be precise, Kagome first travels to 1555 AD. The people are very superstitious there and they were very quick to judge her for being revealing.

The main two protagonists, Kagome & Inuyasha, are introduced including Shippo, Miroku, Sango, Kilala, Kikiyo, Kaede, and Naraku. Kagome’s family owns an ancient Shinto shrine with a well in it which they later use to travel from past to present.

The reason Inuyasha set off on their journey is that they need to find the shattered Sacred Jewel. They find out that the past and present are connected as they found one of the shattered Sacred Jewel in the present.

The ending of season 1 includes the origin of the Sacred Jewel.

This season is more focused on the Tetsusaiga and Tenseiga. Inuyasha gets a new technique from Tetsusaiga called The Wind Scar. The Wind Scar allows Inuyasha to slay hundreds in one blow. He uses it to help Koga.

Sango’s whole family was murdered by Naraku while he deceived Sango that Inuyasha murdered her family. So, Sango got infuriated and wanted to take revenge for her family.

Something romantic happens with a lot of connection. There’s a rectangular situation in the season between Inuyasha, Kagome, Koga, and Kikiyo. I am not saying it’s love !!!

During the ending, Inuyasha kills the reincarnation of the demon that killed his father. He achieves another new technique called the Backlash Wave which counters demonic powers and returns them twice the force. I’d recommend watching the movie “Inuyasha the movie: Affections Touching Across Time” after this season.

The third season reveals more about Naraku. This guy’s still keeping up and gathering more allies to become a worthy antagonist. While he prepares for battle, we see Sango and Miroku completely ignore the fact that Naraku didn’t die and flirt around.

Then there’s our Kagome so indulged in saving the past that she completely forgot her school work. For a student who’s creating history, she knows very little about her present-day school works.

The dog boy finally revealed his human form as there was a moonlight outage! He loses his demonic powers while being in human form. Then, Sesshomaru and Inuyasha are seen helping each other on the same quests.

Inuyasha fights the Band of Seven this season and quite a few betrayals take place during the chases. Naraku reveals a stronger form and demands a fight while Inuyasha is already drained from the fight against the band of seven. A very dramatic death takes place in the battle.

On the other hand, Sango finally accepts Miroku as the father of their future children. They are ready to bear children together so fast! They’ve just known each other for one season!

Jaken fails to steal the Tetsusaiga from Inuyasha. He also tells Rin how he and Sesshomaru first encountered each other.

Kagome finds out Rin is traveling with Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru’s true feelings toward Rin are revealed while she was kidnapped by Naraku. He wants to absorb Sesshomaru into his body.

Sesshomaru is the badass of the show, fights off Naraku, and protects Rin from getting killed by them. He also takes back Rin unharmed like it was a piece of cake for him. I wonder how powerful Naraku will become if he ever consumes him.

This is the season of fillers. They started a non-canon campaign to ensure character development I think, but some of the fillers are very annoying. No Naraku this season boys.

Kagome and Inuyasha come to the present world for some time. While being there, Kagome starts nagging about her studies and relationship with Inuyasha to a friend while Inuyasha becomes a local hero.

Then there’s a complicated love connection between Ayame, the wolf demon, and Koga. So, we are seeing another love triangle here between Koga, Ayame, and Kagome. Kagome becomes sick on their way to Mt. Hakurei. And our hero Inuyasha steps in to save her.

Sesshomaru appears again to meet with Koga for the first time. After Koga’s wolves killed Rin in season 2 we were expecting a fight between the two. But they didn’t fight to the death.

I’d suggest watching the movie “Inuyasha the Movie: The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass” after 95 episodes or after the season.

This season has fillers too but fewer in numbers. After one whole season without Naraku, we finally get to see him as he reappears slowly from being “in the place where none can touch him”. The Content was not up to the mark for me this season. The season was mainly about the Band of the Seven.

The Band of the Seven is resurrected by Kohaku. He had to sacrifice seven of the sacred Jewel shards to do so. Our protagonists learn this from Ayame as she was fleeing from the village the band attacked.

Mukotsu retains Kagome for the information of the shards. Sesshomaru appears and kills him. One by one, the Band of the Seven was killed once again.

Naraku reincarnates something new, this time it’s a baby, created from his own heart. Kagura takes the baby and Kagome away to control her mind with the shards. A very overwhelming situation happens and Kagome accepts her jealousy of Kikyo and confesses her love towards Inuyasha.

After season 5, I’d tell you to watch “Inuyasha the Movie: Swords of an Honorable Ruler”.

After season 5 expectations were high from the audience. But the season still has some fillers with some very important information about Naraku.

While Kagome takes some dried demons to the present world by mistake, Inuyasha follows her to keep her safe without her notion as if it was his fault. But her life in the present was casual without any interruption of the demons.

Naraku gets a hold of a demon who can listen to the whole world. The demon tells Naraku to go to the land of the dead. So, the final Jewel shard is in the netherworld.

Sesshomaru meets Sara for the first time. Sara loves Sesshomaru for various reasons. She offers to steal the Tetsusaiga from Inuyasha for Sesshomaru. But he politely declines that he doesn’t want help to defeat his younger brother.

Kagome meets her ancestor, Akitoki Hojo. She finds out Akitoki Hojo married someone named Kagome. That lucky idiot!

There’s this beautiful movie, “Inuyasha the Movie: Fire on the Mystic Island”. I’d suggest you watch it. Before the final arc. The animation is amazing.

At the time of the final season, anime like Dragonball, Dragonball Z, Digimon, Gundam Wing, and Pokemon were crushing the competitive list. So, as expected, our final season wasn’t up to the mark. It felt like they rushed everything. Rumors have it that the studio was running out of money.

The first half of the final season’s first episode was the linking between where they got things on hold and how they’d continue. This closure version of season 7 had been continued from manga after a very long time. I am glad they continued from the manga. As the manga had a better closure to the story.

Hakudoshi plans to replace Naraku with the infant with Kagura. Naraku finds it out and removes his shield. Inuyasha almost killed Hakudoshi. Kagura was given back her heart but poisoned with very little time to live. Evil is as evil does.

Koga sought out the strongest weapon of their tribe “The Thunder Claw”, to fight against Naraku. Fighting against the three-headed dog like Cerberus, Koga’s kindness won him the weapon.

Kikiyo reveals that Naraku can’t be killed just with a sword, in fact, the shard he consumes needs to be cured and purified as he consumes it.

Sesshomaru hits a death blow on Moryomaru which shatters Moryomaru’s armor and his sword both at the same time. Moryomaru flees the battlefield at once. Sesshomaru is granted Tenseiga after his blade was shattered and his passion was introduced.

Inuyasha gains a better blade and is incapable of controlling it, so he goes into training to tame his blade and understands about consuming a demonic aura.

The infant consumed Naraku but as he has the three shards, Naraku consumes Moryomaru. While the infant tries to escape, Naraku captures him in his heart’s place and gains the perfect form. While he was transforming, Kagome appeared with Kikiyo’s bow and purified a shard while he was consuming it.

Meanwhile, Naraku rejected the purification and regained his negative humanity.

The two brothers, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru with their new weapons, went on to a battle to find out who is worthy of holding such powerful blades. While Inuyasha thought it was a battle of power, Sesshomaru went to check if Inuyasha can control his demonic powers.

The final battle takes place in a spider demon created by Naraku. He finally gains the final shard but Kagome manages to hit it with a purification shard. Which takes them into another realm. There, Kagome was asked to make a wish.

Kagome knowing the Jewel bends wishes, wished for the Jewel to vanish forever. This took her to the present and Inuyasha was lonely in the past. After Kagome graduated, she came back to the past for good, married Inuyasha, pursued medicine, and became an exorcist.

The story relates tales about Inuyasha’s father. Menomaru is the main antagonist of the movie. He seeks revenge on Inuyasha’s father,finds his sons and tries to kill them. Menomaru gains more power as he becomes Hyoga, possessing exponentially more power than the last generation.

He can only be stopped with the power of Kagome’s sacred arrow and Inuyasha’s Backlash Wave.

After killing Naraku, Inuyasha and his friends separated their ways to achieve their own goals. As they thought peace was inherent. After the defeat of Naraku, each night is a full moon.

Kagura and Kanna set the ruler of the eternal night, Kaguya, free. Kaguya will bring a major threat to all the half-demon who depend on the moon. The show is about stopping her spell.

Inuyasha’s father possessed three swords: Tetsusaiga, Tenseiga, and Sounga. The first two were inherited by his sons while the Sounga was an evil sword. Thus, sealed away.

Sounga gets free and can only be defeated by Tetsusaiga and Tenseiga together.

The plot is about the fight between the two brothers Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. Where Sesshomaru makes Inuyasha believe it’s a fight of strength. The elder brother actually wanted to see if Inuyasha started to control the demonic powers he had.

When he understood that Inuyasha could control his powers, he gave up his sword power to his younger brother. Later in the anime, we get to see Sesshomaru gaining an even more powerful sword. This episode was used in the final season with a few edits.

Inuyasha originated from the main manga. The anime is lengthy but nothing compared to the manga. The artwork of both the anime and manga might not look as stunning as other good-quality animation series,but we have to consider the timeline of the series. I think the artwork looks good.

The OVAs and ONAs are not balanced though. As a fan, I wanted more OVAs about rom-coms between couples. Although fans often complain that ONAs are too lengthy. Inuyasha also doesn’t have any specials or live action adaptions.

Inuyasha is one of those anime which can touch your heart with warmth and give you adrenaline rushes at the same time. The ending makes you miss the world of Inuyasha. Unfortunately, like all good things Inuyasha came to an end. It’s not just the story that’s good, the opening and ending soundtracks, visuals, fan service and character development will give you a cheerful time.
