He served in the US Army and attended the University of Southern California where he majored in engineering and joined the football team. After leaving USC he moved to Midland and taught math and coached football, track and at George Wash- ington Carver High School where he coached Football State Champi- onship team in 1961. Over 43 years he at Carver, Robert E. Lee and Midland Senior high schools.
The only to work at all three Midland high schools. After retiring and relo- cating to Arlington, Texas, Johnny was a volunteer foot- ball, track and coach at Lamar High School for over 20 years and received the Ar- lington Unsung Hero Award in 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother JD Williams and sister Artelia Perry. To cherish his mem- ory he leaves his wife of 71 years, Margaret, his daugh- ter, Dianne Culton Smith, son Michael L. Williams, daughter, Pamela Williams Hughes, 3 grand children and 6 great grandchildren.

Johnny Williams July 25, 1925 September 27, 2022 The Woodlands, Texas Marcia passed away peace- fully after a brief battle with cancer at her home in the Woodlands, Texas on the 29th of September 2022, just weeks shy of her 80th birth- day.
A memorial service and viewing will be held on Sat- urday, the 8th of October, at Bowers Funeral Home, 814 Main Street, Jewett, Texas 75846. The viewing will start at 10:00 followed by the ser- vice at 11:00. Interment will take place at a future date at Sardis Cemetery in Jewett. Bro. Ray Payne will officiate.
Marcia was born in Grand Prairie, Texas but spent her early childhood in West Tex- as before the family settled in the Fort Worth suburb of Riv- er Oaks where she proudly attended Castleberry schools, graduating from Castleberry High School in 1961. There she played basketball, was a cheerleader and developed many life-long friendships. After graduation, her marriage took her to Ger- many for two years, and that experience led to a life- long love of travel. Trips and cruises with family and friends took her all over the USA. Some of her favorites included Alaska, Ruidoso and Cloudcroft, Branson, Lake Tahoe, Napa, San Fran- cisco and of course, Las Ve- gas.
She also loved her visits to Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, and back to Germany and Scotland in her later years. Marcia attended Busi- ness College and worked as a bookkeeper for several companies including Mrs. Bakery and General Dynamics. Her second marriage to the love of her life, Bengie Boyd, took her to the Jewett, Tex- as area where they enjoyed many years of boating, ing, gardening and entertain- ing family and friends with BBQ ribs and oth- er cookouts at their home on Lake Limestone. She loved cooking and Thanksgiving dinners were her specialty.
After Ben passed away in 2001, she her work- ing career at Hilltop Lakes Community and Block in Buffalo before retiring and moving to the Woodlands, TX to be close to her sister and her family. There she treasured visits with her son and his family along with her many grandchildren, her niece, and her great nieces. She faced and hardships with humor, grace and eternal optimism. She loved to gamble both the horse races and the casi- nos. She loved camping, ing and bowling.
She loved watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, but also college football, PGA golf, MLB baseball and ten- nis. She let everyone know her feelings with the sign over her TV that says, most important thing in life is FAMILY, Followed by She aston- ished us all not only with her love of sports, but with her knowledge of the games as well. Rules, players, coach- es, could re- cite statistics like a sports broadcaster! She loved live music and attending concerts big and small. She also was a master of the DVR, with a long list of regular shows she enjoyed on her TV. She is preceded in death by her parents, Whit and Ovelle Whittenburg, her husband Bengie Boyd, and her son David Boyd.
She is survived by her sis- ter, Kathey Longorio (Phil); her brother, Larry Whitten- burg (Sharon); her son, Ran- dy Boyd (Angela); daugh- ter-in-law, Trina Trinkman (Michael); granddaugh- ters, Brooke Ramirez (Josh), Lexi Kresta (Bradley), Dashia Baker (Robert), Mea- gan Sandoval (Dennis), and Lacy Gregg (Brandon); along with several great-grandchil- dren, cousins, nieces, neph- ews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
